Frank Doerner for Selig Eames Style Leather Lounger & Ottoman
Regular priceSale price
Fabulous vintage Eames style lounger and ottoman with rarer leather and wood combination! Burgundy leather is in great condition with a few minor scratches and pricks. Bentwood has a Rosewood look to it, possibly even Zebra wood, with nice dark black contrasting grain. A few scratches around the edges but nothing major.
The metal hardware is stamped "Northfield metal products, Waterloo, Ontario, Canada" which is a company still in business that produced metal office furniture products. Found a similar chair online with similar stamp and 1974 Patent pending on it. So this chair, too, is likely from the 1970s. Unsure of which company might have designed this chair. Perhaps Plydesigns from Canada also out of Ontario. Northfield supplied these metal bases to other North American producers including Plycraft.
Pull underneath to operate reclining function (pull it out - chair tilts back when sitting; push it in - chair is stationary). Chair & ottoman can be height adjustable by turning.
Chair: 32"W x 35.5"H x 31"D Seat: 21"D x 16"H (adjustable)
Ottoman: 25"W x22"D x 15"H (adjustable)
Legs are encased in a black plastic frame. The cap on the chair covering the frames is missing its screw and appears to have been displaced while turning and a couple of the pieces of plastic near the base mechanism are cracked.
